Measurements and Conversions

This page will offer a short list of measurements, equivilants

Temperature Conversions and Cooking Temperatures.

Here are oven temperatures with Centrigrade equivalants along with how they relate to style of cooking.  Many recipes may call for cooking items in a slow oven or low and slow style.  Others may call for baking or roasting. These call for a higher range of tempatures.

275°F = 140°C
300°F = 150°C   Slow Cook Range of Oven Temperatures

350°F = 180°C  Baking (and sometimes roasting)
375°F = 190°C Roasting (and occasionally baking)
400°F = 200°C Roasting (from here up its definitely getting hotter and faster)
425°F = 220°C
450°F = 230°C
Volume Measurements and Equivalents – These are the basics that I use everyday.  While I may call for pinch or a dash those refer primarily to seasonings whether they be herbs, spices or things like vinegars, soys, spicy sauces and the like.

1 teaspoon = 1/3 tablespoon
1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons
1 cup = 8 oz = 16 tablespoons
1 pint = 16 oz = 2 cups
1 quart = 4 cups = 32 oz =2 pints
4quarts = 1 gallon = 16 cups = 128 oz

4 quarts = 1 gallon = 16 cups
